Notes from the Burnley early career workshop

Thanks again to everyone who came down to Burnley for the MeNUER workshop. There were about 35 enthusiastic attendees, including a number of new faces. As promised, we’ve compiled sets of notes from the day for people who forgot their pens or couldn’t make it. We’ve also endeavoured to include links to reports or websites that were referred to on the day, or that are on relevant topics. PLEASE add to these (you can leave a comment on this post, or if you’ve signed up to be an author, you can start a new post). We think it would be helpful to share tips and experiences on these topics, or others that you might think are important.

Kate Auty, Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability, Victoria, led a session on communication of scientific work and engaging the public. Notes from this session can be found here.

Barb Downes, Professor, University of Melbourne, led a session on grant writing strategies. The slides from Barb’s presentation are here, and the example she shared with use of one of her successful ARC grants is here.
